How to Use Canva’s Text Effects: Shadow, Lift, Hollow, and More
Introduction
Text effects can bring your words to life, making them more eye-catching and engaging. Whether you’re designing an invitation, social media post, or business card using one of my templates, these text effects will add that extra touch of professionalism.
1. Adding a Shadow for Depth
The Shadow effect is perfect for adding dimension to your text, making it stand out against the background.
How to Apply Shadow:
- Click on your text, then select “Effects” in the top toolbar.
- Choose “Shadow” and adjust the color, offset, transparency, and blur to achieve your desired look.
Pro Tip: If you’re working with my templates, applying a shadow can enhance titles or headers, drawing attention to important information.
2. Using the Lift Effect for Subtle Emphasis
The Lift effect gives your text a soft, raised appearance, perfect for adding a hint of emphasis without overpowering the design.
How to Use Lift:
- Select your text, then click “Effects.”
- Choose “Lift” and adjust the intensity.
Tip: This effect works beautifully on text in my minimalist templates, adding depth without taking away from the clean aesthetic.
3. Experimenting with the Hollow Effect
The Hollow effect makes your text appear as an outline, ideal for bold statements.
How to Apply Hollow:
- Select your text, click “Effects,” and choose “Hollow.”
- Adjust the thickness to achieve your desired look.
Pro Tip: This effect pairs well with solid backgrounds or gradients, making it ideal for invitations or flyers created with my templates.
